Beyond The Probes

Beyond The Probes

A new beginning most times is not the birth of something new but the doing of old things in new ways, a clear attitude, a clear consciousness and a clear direction that shows things can and would be better managed.

The administration of President Buhari has hit the ground of work with caution, precision and investigation. The government understands that running fast on the wrong lane renders a fast last medal. The machinery of state is now anchored on the principle that when opportunities arrive, preparation becomes late hence current efforts to learn from the mistakes of the past in order to accelerate the country's growth and progress.   In recent times, the media has been awashed with the intentions of government to probe the past administration and recover our collective wealth which has been allegedly and in known instances, glaringly stolen.

Suprisely, this expressed intentions of our current leadership has not elicited any form of rejoicing from the led who are perpetually situated in their room of pessimism as regards issues of the State.
The Buhari administration has in current time, sacked officials of the past ruling class, appointed new ones, reduced the cost of governance in some minimal and reseanoble specifics yet the true owners of the country who obviously are its' citizens still hold dear to their belief that nothing with government as driver ever works or gets to destination. The question therein is should the citizens be blamed for not believing in content and form, the expressed sincerity of government? Is it our fault that we possibly cannot imagine that change has come or is on the way?

In my honest view, the blame lays not on the people but on the collective actions and inactions of our past and present leaders.   As a country, we have traveled the probe routes before and we saw no signs of things becoming better afterwards. We as citizens have reached a sorry stage where we are no longer interested in the process but the eventual outcome.

I write on behalf of the class of citizens who are not interested in who gets probed or not but in the end thereof. We as followers believe that the retrieved stolen funds should not be returned as is the norm to the National Treasury for further steal or dashed to federating states under a bailout guise but should be geared towards providing physical infrastructure which makes life worth living in Nigeria.

We believe the word "Change" is not just a party's slogan but should become a way of life in government circles. I express hope that the legislature would rise up to the national challenge and ensure a legislative backed fund is set up where retrieved government funds are lodged and directed towards provision of things we can see, touch, utilise and maintain for generations yet to come.

History as served us right as regards probes and retrieved funds from past leaders of this country and as citizens, we cannot tell for fact where such funds where placed or channeled.   It is my firm believe that this time around, we shall go Beyond the Probes and give the nation it's yearnings which as it stands, remains the dividends of democracy.
