HENRY CHIBUIKE UGWU – The Immediate Past LAWSA President

He should be a course in this school – Henry 101 (How to Be a President).
Henry started showing signs that he was not going to be the run-off-the-mill faculty or departmental or even SUG president this school is used to; people that run for election just for its sake and in addition, the prestige and respect that comes with it, especially to be hailed "Presido!" when they are in the midst of girls.
It was obvious he was the dark horse in the election that had three candidates and his poster was not colorful – just black and white – but he passed his manifesto in flying colors and landed the top job; a classic case of being thrown to the wolves only to emerge as the leader of the pack.
ASUU's strike sought to undermine him but he showed true strength of character and sincerity of purpose by forging ahead with some and I dare say the great plans of his administration. Never the one to accept "no" as an answer, as resilient as ever, he
Revived the moribund Barrister's Magazine
Brought light to Coscharis (can't remember the last time I used my lamp to read there)
Organized the best LAWSA Week law students have ever seen
Appointed the first student Attorney-General in UNN.

All these he achieved with very limited financial support but one way or the other he pulled them off – one project after another.

For all these student oriented achievements, he has earned our special recognition.

Like it or not, Henry Chibuike Ugwu is simply the definition of a president.
