UNN 2014/2015 SUG SENATE HOLDS FIRST SESSION

In accordance with the provisions of the constitution of the SUG, the
Senate held its first meeting yesterday, Feb 14th 2015 at UNEC.
The first plenary session of the 2014/2015 upper chamber was initially
billed to hold at Justice Mary Odili Moot Court Complex, UNEC but due
to some logistics the venue was moved to Room 4 of Coscharis Lecture
Theatre of the Faculty of Law. The senators from Nsukka Campus kept to
time and made an early arrival and some few minutes later they
commenced with a procession presided over by the immediate past Deputy
Senate President of the UNN SUG, Sen. Emeka Bucho Ibeneme (500L/Law)
who appointed an interim Sergeant at Arms before completing the
ceremonious handing over to the new leadership of the hallowed chamber
that has Sen. Henry Muna Udenwoke (400L/Law) at its helm as the Senate
President.
Some appointments were made and they include the appointment of Sen.
Hope Anemhen (300L/Law) as the Chairman of Senate Committee on
Petitions and Privileges, Sen. Agozie N. Uchegbu (400L/Law) as the
Chairman Senate Committee on Hostel and Entrepreneurial Affairs and
Sen. Kenechukwu Apostle Igbokwe (500L/Med & Surg) as the Deputy Clerk.

The meeting lasted nearly 10 hours with all the familiar and usual
shouts of yea and nay and ended in not so amiable note which is not
unfamiliar to politics. The meeting was adjourned till further notice
which as it is will definitely be next semester.
