They were running higgledy-piggledy.
Carrying papers of the previous level.
Asking whosoever they thought knew about it-
Which institution, UNN, IMSU or which?
Arts, social or other sciences, which course?
(HAVING MADE JAMB)
Oh they made it this time around
It's above 200, the first and penultimate bridge to the DEN.
Here they have come for it, in POST UTME, the best of the betters are a taken
PAA or Ekpo Ref? They were pissed off with the CENTRE wahala!
They were pissed off with the cathedral of fellow POST JAMBITES
They were pissed off with stampede.
(THEY WERE ADMITTED)
They were indeed the best of the betters
Registration and clearances they now call it.
From Students Affairs to Hall portals, back to faculty and departmental offices
Different dues they paid both willingly and unwillingly.
All happy and glittering in Matriculation gown.
(LECTURES BEGIN)
They are now in the race; GSP 101? What makes it different from GSP 102?
They used to hear secondary school teachers say English Language, not GS
This is a different system of learning.
Look at them running towards the stadium; they are going for a class
They are now rushing back for departmental lectures
All sweating, all tired, all hungry, all thirsty.
They do not want to give up; they wished to be called SUPER LIONS and LIONESSES.
All the way from GSPs, COS 101, CEDR, and the rest.
They were determined, they managed the OKPA,
Some damned BELLO and what is inside skirt and bra
Others damned Francos and the content of their wallets
While others combined the two and keep pushing
All targeted the almighty MR. CGPA.
(THEY ARE DONE)
They have come this far.
They spent four years
They spent five years
They spent six years
They spent….years
Wow! The date has been fixed
They re all happy
It's January 23rd 2015.
They all will wear their long awaited robe and look angelic
They will have their convocation
They deserve an honor
Sing their eulogy oh inhabitants of the DEN
