UNEC Mr. and Miss ABIA ENDS IN CONTROVERSY

It was supposed to be the first of its kind as no other "kpurakpo" has ever
organised a pageantry but Abia State pulled it off as she attracted
students to FBA Auditorium to witness the promising epoch making event.
Things went on smoothly as the contestants took to the stage and showed off
their endowments and potentials but soon fell apart when it got to the
result stage. There was no problem with the Miss Abia result which Blessing
in 200 level of Banking and Finance department won but that of Mr. Abia
caused an eruption of voices when Emeka Mbaogu of 300 level Accountancy's
name was not mentioned as the winner instead one 200 level guy in Estate
Management deartment was declared the winner. According to Sen. Prince N.
Ilogebe, one of the judges of the contestant, Emeka Mbaogu was the rightful
winner of the contest as he scored 31 points while the declared winner
scored 27 points. He blamed the anomaly on apparent corruption of the minds
of two external judges who refused to show the four other judges the final
result before it was announced for cross checking. When they were
confronted later, the judges declared that it was a "mistake".
So much for leaders of tomorrow. It seems we will be worse than Abacha and
his ilk.
