THIS HATE BETWEEN THE NORTH AND NDI IGBO-THE NEED FOR THE RAW TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION

This Hate between the North and Ndi Igbo-

the need for the raw truth and reconciliation

Coming from the south eastern part of

Nigeria and Considering my age( Having that

I was not born before the civil war) I was

born into the generation that sees our

Northern Brothers as Oppressors,my

generation grew to hear of how over 50,000

Ndigbo were killed by our Northern Brothers

and then the civil war. I was Denied the

opportunity of meeting my paternal grand

parents because they were Casualties of the

Civil War.the Cry of marginalization since the

civil war and the recent killings, It's natural

that I have some reservations for my

Northern brothers, But Taking a holistic view

of the whole scenario will compel your curios

mind into resolving some equations to

determine when it started and what led to

this hatred.

Just recently, I asked a northern Elder states

man and a former senator, what Igbos did to

the North that gave birth to this Hatred and

how did we get here…He said " Your Brothers

Major Kaduna Nzeogwu and Major

Ifeajuna,Major Christian Anuforo, Capt Ben

Gbulie, Major Timothy Onwuatuegwu, Major

Donatus Okafor etc along side Major Adewale

Ademoyega led a coup that gave the North

Sleepless nights, a coup that took our

political rallying points( sir Tafawa Balewa ,

Sir Ahmadu Bello, the prime minister and the

Saduana of Sokoto.Yet no Igbo political

leader was touched, We saw it then as a

cleansing military action.But when , your

people in the North, started displaying in their

shops a picture of our Saduana's mutilated

body with Nzeogwu's boot on his neck with

the inscription OUR LITTLE BROTHER HAS

KILLED THE GOD OF THE NORTH (to me that

was unfair) according to him, our people that

were residing in the North were playing a lot

of offensive anti northern songs where we

were refereed to as goats as they celebrated

the death of the northern elites, we started

seeing it as Conspiracy, when your Brother

Aguiyi Ironsi took over, he did practically

nothing to condemn the actions of Nzeogwu

and co, That our people saw as a grand

conspiracy by Ndigbo against the North, this

gave birth to the counter coup, the massacre

and then the Civil war.though regrettably but

things has not been well between us and our

Igbo brothers" after My little interaction with

the senator, i tried raising the issue with my

Northern allies, i saw the pains in their heart,

their reactions took a better part of them that

they forgot that am Nwa Afo Igbo in their

midst.

With this little record, we can agree together

that there is enough blame to share between

the oppressed and the Oppressor tracing it

Back to the Coup.

Men and brethren, in as much as we know

that the "IGBO COUP" never sought the

approval of the entire Ndigbo as to explain

why over 50,000 lives paid for the mistake of

few but I must equally admit that our people

celebrated what out not be celebrated.

This has brought us to a point where no one

was ready to hear the story of the other, No

body remembers how Aguiyi Ironsi and

Ikemba Nnewi frustrated Kaduna Nzeogwu

and Banned Igbo Union. We now have a

generation that agitates for several reasons

in the form of Quite Notice or secession.

In my opinion, I think that we have come to a

point of truth where we must confess our

sins against each other, for the Nation to

survive, The North owes Ndigbo a lot of

apology for all the Massacre and deprivations

whereas Ndigbo must apologize to the North

for the Massacre Of Saduana and the prime

minister and for celebrating what should be

condemned. This Can be done when Our

Elders, Religious leaders and youth leaders

from both ends comes together to a point of

truth and true reconciliations, apologize to

each other, forgive each other and preach the

the Message of peace. Unless this is done

we will keep nursing our wounds and we will

keep hurting each other
