Happy birthday to a great lion Abah Joe

Its our tradition to honor great men. Here is all you need know about the celebrant as he adds 1 more year

Some are born great, some achieve greatness while some have greatness thrust upon them – Shakespeare
Abah Joseph Idenyi Junior is the fourth child in the family of eight. He was born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Abah Joseph on Thursday, 15th July 1993 at All Saints Medical Centre, Nsukka. He was born two months after the highly talked about white wedding of his parents at their native home of Etteh. He was born at about 1:00am in the morning. He almost fell off the bed after birth but Dr. S.O Nnaji was there to rescue the situation. Maybe he was not patient; maybe he was anxious about something or perhaps he was in a hurry to explore the world he came into.
He was loved from birth by parents, grandparents and well-wishers and greatness was envisioned of him from his day one. He was a carbon copy of his father and this is probably the reason behind his name Joseph, Idenyi and Abah which are his father's, grandfather's and great grandfather's names respectively. Technically, he had no name of his own; he was renamed after his progenitors.
He was baptized into the Roman Catholic Church at the then St. James Catholic Mission, Etteh Centre by Rev. Fr. Williams Odo; the same priest that wedded his parents on the 2nd day of December 1993 with Mr. Mark Oche as his baptismal sponsor.
Almost ten years later, he received his first Holy Communion on the 15th day of August, 2003 at St. Mary's Parish, Enugu-Ezike under Rev. Fr. Martins Ozioko as parish priest
Abah Joe Idenyi started his educational journey at St. Mary's Nursery and Primary School Enugu-Ezike in the year 1997 under the administration of Rev. Sr. Ignetia. Intelligence was on his side as he was given a double promotion in the year 1999 by the school administration which was later nullified as a result of change of administration just the session after his promotion.
His call for leadership started in 1998 as the class prefect/captain of his class, a function entrusted to him by the school authorities. He led his class more than three times until his graduation from the school in 2006. In 2005, he was further elected as the water prefect of his class. Many that knew him admitted that he was cheerful, caring and accommodating and his only observed weakness then was shyness and stubbornness. Even though he used few words, the young Abah Joe was capable of sweeping you off your feet if you underestimate him at all.  He was fondly referred to as 'slow poison' by his peers.
He became a public speaker and presenter as early as 1999, representing his school many times in debate and drama Performances. He represented his school in debate and dramas alongside Ugochukwu Mama, Ugwuanyi Franklin, Ali Anthony, Onyinye Eke, Ejike Ugwuanyi and a host of others throughout his Nursery and Primary Education, playing the lead role most times under the supervision of Reverend Sisters Schorlastica Anyanwu, Chimeremma and Mr. Jerome Ayogu.
In 2006, he enrolled into St. John-Cross Seminary, Nsukka for his Secondary Education under the administration of Rev. Fr. Anthony C. Adani as the Rector of the Seminary. He was appointed as the Assistant Class Prefect of his class that same year by the then First Auxiliary Mr. Herbert Nnadi (Igede Nwa Africa) with Ugwu Chinonso as the class prefect. They were later replaced by Ozibo Henry and Okonkwo Chijioke for the post of the Class Prefect and assistant Class prefect respectively.
He stood against class distribution (upper class, middle class and lower class) throughout his stay in the seminary with his belief that all men are equal under God. He engaged in quarrels times and over again with his class presidents for taking to this class distribution system and for negligence of some members of his class. This lead to his nomination and election once again as the assistant class prefect in the year 2009 with Odo Gabriel as the Class prefect.
His call for leadership continued, he was elected the first president of the Marian Movement of Priests in the year 2009 during his stay in the seminary. He led this group to Awhum Monastery for an excursion that same year with Mr. Attah Damian as the moderator.
He was also known as a stage performer in the seminary; performing in most of the dramas of the theatre and Arts Club, Comedy Shows and Music Performances. He became the first performer of the popular talk show in the seminary "laugh it off" alongside Ugwuoju Henry in 2006. He was part of the plays Romeo and Juliet, the Hamlet etc. which were acted on the Seminary Stage. He performed alongside Ugwuoju Henry, Ikechukwu Valentine, Ugwu Joseph and a host of others. In 2009, he performed as a mascot alongside Ugwu Joseph and Ugwuoju Henry under the supervision of Mr. Onoyima Maximillian during one of the seminary bazaar ceremonies.
While in the seminary he developed passion for social media and ICT. This lead to his creation of the famous Facebook group 'Nigeria and I' in 2011. A group he described as the group that engages the whole country in a conspiracy of love. He created the group to define Nigerian unity and to discuss the many challenges facing the statehood of the country. He further became a blogger, blogging about scholarships and related opportunities. He created the blog http://www.edusplash.blogspot.com in 2012 to solve the problem of opportunity misinformation by students and related people.
He further created another very blog in 2013 http://www.9jamebor.blogspot.com, which displayed news from different sources.
While in the seminary, he was not very law abiding and for this reason, he was always punished for one offence or the other. This led many people to regard him as unserious though his sharp memory and intelligence made many people who talked with him to think otherwise. He joined the seminary choir in 2006 and left later in 2007 for the reason that he considered it stressful.
He left the seminary in 2009 and made it to Shalom Academy, Nsukka in 2010. In 2011, He got his West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) certificate crediting all the subjects he sat for. That same year he scaled through his Jamb and Post UME and made it to University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) into the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
His call for leadership continued with his nomination and election as the class representative of his class (Physics and Astronomy Class of 2015) in 2011, he led his class from 2011 until his resignation in 2013.
In 2012, he was named President of The Society for the Promotion of Indigenous Inventions and Creativity (SPIIC) by Prof. A.O.E Animalu with Igboke Augustine and Pwansak Pannan Henry as Treasurer and Secretary respectively.
He was appointed a Campus Ambassador of the Unilever in 2012 alongside six others and further nominated Team Captain of the Unilever Campus Ambassadors, UNN that same year.
His passion for the ICT kept growing and in 2012, he became the owner of the bulk SMS portal http://www.aminutesms.co which he opened with Udealor Somto.
He was a member of the magazine committee of for the production of the proposed PHYSCOPE magazine in 2012 in his department. The magazine never saw the light of the day due to many reasons.
In 2013, He was named secretary of the Electoral Board Committee of the National Association of Physics Students (NAPS), UNN chapter. He contributed immensely to the committee and along with other members, organized the successful election of NAPS 2013/2014 executives.
He has always been a writer and his pen has always flowed in eloquency. His article was published in 2010 Scripture Union (SU) Magazine where he wrote on "King and I". The article was about the motivations given to him by Martin Luther King Jnr. His write ups can also be found on his facebook group "Nigeria and I."

In 2014, the University of Nigeria revived the Students' Union activity which was placed on ban for over four years as a result of students' protest. After the ban was lifted, Abah Joseph Idenyi became an active participant in the electioneering process that delivered comrade Agu Christian as the president of the S.U.G. He was the faculty campaign coordinator for the Agu Chris campaign team with Mr. Enoch Mmaduabuchi as the campaign chairman. After all time and efforts put in place, their campaign structure emerged victorious against the Council of Faculty Presidents' campaign structure. This added more grease to his elbow and emboldened him to do more.
He was not only out to deliver his candidate for the Students' Union Government President in 2014, he had his own interests in the political tussle of the Students' Union Government as well. He picked the form for the Students' Union Government House of Senate that same year to represent the Faculty of Physical Sciences constituency. He was returned unopposed and became one of the senators representing his constituency in the Students' Union Government House of Senate alongside Sen. Ohalate Nzube and Onwuagba Kenenna.
He did not stop at becoming a senator, he had interest in leading the senate as well in his quest for a smooth running government and equity structuring, and he declared interest for the Office of the Senate President of the Union.
He was not the only one with the interest, there were a host of senators who had similar interest from Nsukka and Enugu campuses. In the heat of the electioneering proceeding of the parliament, he influenced some of the senators to step down and support him. Some of them stepped down for him.
At the inaugural sitting after the election of the Students' Union Senate, he emerged as the Senate President of the Student's Union Government, University of Nigeria Nsukka and Enugu Campuses. His success was not without the intercession of St. Rita of Cascia to whom he is devoted. The fact that he played along with the principle of a stitch in time saves nine also gave him an edge in emerging victorious in the election due to the fact that he started his campaign even before the electoral officials of the union were inaugurated.
Abah Joseph Idenyi made his first appointments at the first Mock sitting which were ratified by more than two third majority of the members of the House of Senate present and voting. He appointed Sen. Nwuba Emmanuel of Enugu Campus as the Clerk of the Senate, Sen. Igwe Tochukwu as the Deputy Clerk of the Senate, and Sen. Udeagbala Stephen as the Sergeant at Arms of the Senate. As a young man who believes that women should be given equal chances and rights in politics, he appointed the four females in the Senate as chairmen and secretaries of the Senate committees; Sen. Ofurum Favor as the chairman of the Senate committee on inter campus affairs, Sen. Eziama Ngozi as the chairman of the Senate committee on Audit, Sen. Onyekwe Amalachukwu as the chairman of the Senate committee on budget assessment and approval, and Sen. Okoh Kiddoh as the secretary of the petitions and privileges committee.
His regime as the Senate President was not without hitches as it recorded the highest number of unsuccessful plots in the history of the Students' Union Government of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. His mode of diplomatic lobbying always let him have his way through every plot against his office. On the day he had the last plot against his office, he thrilled the audience with his opening remarks which sounded as if he was about to resign. With his opening remarks he was able to figure out the directions from where the plot had come, he was also able to guess who and who was possibly involved in the plot. Thr plot was tougher and different because his close allies and confidants were part of the engineers of the plot.
A motion was moved on the floor of the Senate for his office to be investigated to determine if the allegations against him were true or mere political propaganda. He was suspended from office on that day in order to ease way to an unbiased investigation. A panel was set up to investigate the allegations against him. The panel within the stipulated number of days was unable to come up with any evidence against him, recommended his reinstatement. The Students' Affairs Department through the Legal Adviser to the Union, Bar Amuzie summoned a meeting of all union leaders. In his judgment, the Presiding Officer and Dean of Students' Affairs Prof. Aka said that the allegations against him were not enough to oust a public officer from seat. He recommended the immediate reinstatement of the Senate President. His recommendation was unanimously adopted by the Senators of the Lion Republic.
Few months after his election as the senate president, Abah Joseph Idenyi was appointed a Purple Brand Ambassador alongside Ofurum Favour, Agbo Mike and Nebo Love after an interview/interactive session with GHARF (Global Health Awareness and Research Foundation) around June 2014. Purple is a new entertainment and lifestyle brand, it was developed by the Voices for Change (V4C) in her gender equality program. On the July of that year, he invited on a training to Abuja. He was given detailed training on gender issues during his stay by V4C staffs and was named an Ambassador of Purple Brand afterwards. The training changed his mind about many aspect of gender issue. He became a strong believer of the concept that every person, irrespective of sex or gender has the ability to make a change, to transform a nation or make positive contributions in an organization. He was bent on making his community and friends understand that 'a nation can only get better and that stronger equal opportunities are given to women as men in the society'. In the course of his one week training in Chelsea Hotel, Abuja, he established a long lasting relationship with his northern colleagues who were beneficiaries of the V4C outreach.
Around 19th of October that same year, Abah Joseph Idenyi was on an all-expense paid trip by V4C for training on radio panel. He had the training with other brand ambassadors from Lagos state, Nigeria. He was opportune to share ideas with his colleagues from the Western part of Nigeria. He learnt new things about the people and their beliefs, he completed the training two days later and flew back to Enugu (Nsukka) for his academic business.
Around January, 2015, Abah Joe Idenyi received an award from Unilever Nigeria as a young man whose small actions has made big difference. The award was presented by Mrs. Marilyn Maduka the Leadership Development Manager of Unilever Nigeria.
Close to the 2015 general elections, Abah Joe Idenyi was nominated into the campaign organization of the Rt. Hon. Eugene Odo who was at the time, the Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly and a gubernatorial aspirant under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). He became the moderator of support group Eugene Odo Students' Support Assembly (ESSA).
That same year, Abah Joe Idenyi served as a Media and ICT aid of Chief Willy Ezugwu, Secretary of Conference of all Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP).
As he steps into another stage of his life, the words that great men are made not born will guide his footsteps into greatness.
