The SUG House of Representative Reinstates the president, V.P. and suspends the Treasurer

The SUG House of Reps, UNEC in a sitting that started from 5:45pm to 12: 02a.m on Friday, 22nd August, 2014 reinstated the President Cmr. Eze Ekene and his V. P. Ezenwekwe Vivian and suspended the Treasurer Chimezie Emenike for 3 months.

This was based on the allegations of gross misconduct brought against the trio pursuant to s.112 of SUG constitution 2 weeks ago which led the House to suspend them by the virtue of section 112(g) of the SUG constitution. The 7 man panel after conducting their investigations found them guilty of the allegations and recommended the following:

1. That the treasurer having acted out of necessity should tender an apology letter, and should be suspended for a week or two.
2. That the SUG president should return all the money he collected to the Union account.
3. That the V.P. should write an apology letter to the house and withdraw her personal letter head.
4. That the House should caution and call all the executives to order.

The House having failed to obtain a 2/3 majority of all the members of the House as stipulated by section 113 of the constitution for the removal from office of any of the aforementioned officers adopted the resolution of the panel in relation to the president and the vice. And after a prolonged heated argument by a majority vote suspended the treasurer for 3 months considering the gravity of his offence. And resolved that all the executive members should be summoned to the House in the next house session for caution.

In relationship to this the speaker and his deputy who were both the acting president and speaker respectively were reinstated to their normal positions and the financial secretary is assumed to be the treasurer for now until further notice .

On the other hand, a budget committee was set up. Ezebo Nosike Chidozie and Ugwu Chinenye were rectified as the SUG Judges. Hon. Chukwudi EKENE CHARLES and Hon. Ivoh Nnamdi were appointed as the members of SUG constitutional review.
