Anambra State to partner with UNN on agriculture development

The executive Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Willie Obiano has expressed the willingness of his administration to partner with faculties in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka to drive the agricultural programme of his administration.

The Governor extended his hand of partnership when he received the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Benjamin Ozumba and other Principal Officers of the University of Nigeria, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Governor's lodge in Awka, recently.

Dr Obiano said his administration would need the support of researchers in the University of Nigeria to generate improved rice seeds, cassava stems and other crop varieties needed to fulfil the dream of his administration in making Anambra food sufficient state.

He also stated that the state would need the support of the University's Department of Film and Theatre Arts to revive the state's culture and make it destination for tourism in the country.

"We understand that nothing can be achieved without securing the state from armed robbers and kidnappers, they are currently on the run; and I am still pursuing them. Right now people can walk around freely without much harassment of security sirens", the Governor said while speaking on security situation in the state.
